Ceramics by TK

It was a well-timed job loss that led me to ceramics in the fall of 2003, when I commenced on a journey that has brought me further down the path of personal balance than I had ever thought possible. Potters talk a lot about centering the clay, and pottery has helped me become a more centered person.
My studio name, Ceramics by TK, is a tribute to my mother. It was her sewing and crafts business, which she called Designs by L, that still gives me many happy childhood memories of watching her make amazing hand made items.
I do ceramics because it lets me focus on the processes of creation, design, and function. I love the freedom it allows me to decompress from the daily stresses of life. There’s nothing more rewarding than creating from nothing something that will outlast my time on this earth, and hopefully bring joy to those who encounter and use it.
I like to make the majority of my work functional - to me, what’s the point of having a vase you can’t fill with water and flowers? Or a mug or bowl that won’t be well-loved and filled with warmth on cold nights?
Hopefully you’ll enjoy my work as well, and share it with your friends, family and loved ones.
